Month-by-Month ICSE Preparation Calendar (July 2026 to February 2027)
Your 7-Month Roadmap
This calendar assumes your ICSE boards start in mid-February 2027. Adjust if your school's internal schedule differs.
July 2026 — Lay the Foundation
Focus: Get organised. Start strong.
- [ ] Set up a clean study space (no distractions within arm's reach)
- [ ] Get the official ICSE 2027 syllabus and print it
- [ ] Mark chapters already covered in school vs. remaining
- [ ] Start chapter-wise mock tests for completed chapters (even if school hasn't finished the syllabus)
- [ ] Create subject-wise formula/fact notebooks (you'll fill these over the coming months)
- [ ] Begin with your strongest subject — build confidence first
Target: Complete mock tests for 30% of the syllabus (chapters already taught).
August 2026 — Build Routine
Focus: Establish daily study habits. Cover weak areas.
- [ ] Study 2–3 hours daily beyond school homework
- [ ] Focus on Maths (Algebra) and Physics (Electricity) — highest weightage topics
- [ ] Take 1 chapter test per day for chapters taught so far
- [ ] Start your error log — every wrong answer with the correct method
- [ ] Review and fix errors from July mock tests
Target: Complete mock tests for 50% of syllabus.
September 2026 — Cover Ground
Focus: Finish remaining school syllabus understanding.
- [ ] Coordinate with teachers — which chapters are left?
- [ ] Self-study ahead for any chapters your school hasn't covered yet
- [ ] Continue chapter tests: now 2 per day (different subjects)
- [ ] Add Biology and Chemistry to your daily rotation
- [ ] Start reading chapter summaries for revision (not full textbook re-reads)
Target: 70% syllabus covered with chapter tests. Error log active for all subjects.
October 2026 — Deepen Practice
Focus: Shift from learning to heavy practice.
- [ ] All chapters should be "taught" by now (self-study what school hasn't covered)
- [ ] Switch to 3 chapter tests per day (morning, afternoon, evening)
- [ ] Introduce timed constraints: finish chapter tests in 30 minutes
- [ ] Start solving previous year questions (chapter-wise, not full papers yet)
- [ ] Weekly review of error log — are mistakes reducing?
- [ ] Add History & Geography to active practice (these need consistent revision)
Target: 100% syllabus covered. Scoring 75%+ on chapter tests.
November 2026 — Intensive Practice
Focus: Build speed and accuracy. Close remaining gaps.
- [ ] Identify your 5 weakest chapters across all subjects — give them 2x time
- [ ] Take your first full-length timed paper (one subject, 2 hours)
- [ ] Practice answer writing: structure, presentation, diagrams
- [ ] Flashcard revision daily (20 minutes: formulas, dates, definitions)
- [ ] English: practice letter writing, essay composition, grammar exercises
- [ ] Geography: practice map work — this takes repetition
Target: Scoring 80%+ on chapter tests. First full papers attempted.
December 2026 — Exam Simulation Mode
Focus: Full papers under real conditions.
- [ ] Take 1 full timed paper every alternate day (rotate subjects)
- [ ] Simulate exam conditions: no phone, no breaks, strict timing
- [ ] After each paper: self-grade using marking scheme, log errors
- [ ] Revise from your formula sheets and error log (not textbook)
- [ ] Solve 3–5 previous year full papers per subject
- [ ] Attend any school revision/extra classes
Target: Scoring 85%+ on full papers. All previous year papers solved.
January 2027 — Peak and Polish
Focus: Peak performance. Confidence building.
- [ ] Continue full papers (now scoring 90%+ if on track)
- [ ] Focus only on error log items — no new learning
- [ ] Revise formulas and key facts daily (30 min flashcard sessions)
- [ ] Practice diagram drawing with proper labels (Science subjects)
- [ ] Time management practice: if any paper is running long, identify why and fix
- [ ] Get enough sleep — 8 hours minimum. Memory consolidation happens during sleep
Target: Consistently scoring 85–95% on full mock papers.
February 2027 (Pre-Exam Week) — Taper
Focus: Stay sharp but rest.
- [ ] Light revision only: formula sheets, error log highlights, flashcards
- [ ] NO full papers — these create stress at this stage
- [ ] Prepare stationery: extra pens, pencils, ruler, compass, calculator
- [ ] Review the exam timetable — plan meals and sleep around exam schedule
- [ ] Night before each exam: read summary notes for that subject only, then sleep early
- [ ] Trust your preparation. You've done the work.
Key Principles
- Consistency beats intensity — 2 hours daily for 7 months beats 12-hour sessions in the last month
- Practise under exam conditions — you perform how you practise
- Track scores — if they're not improving, change your approach
- Rest is productive — burnout kills scores
- Start now — every day you delay makes the final months harder
